I went through a phase years back where there wasn’t a day I didn’t wear statement jewelry. Chunky, colorful earrings, thick bangles, long & elaborate necklaces completed every ensemble. I eventually grew out of it, and progressed to my now minimalist approach to jewelry…dainty chains & rings, my diamond studs. Lately, I’ve found myself rekindling my love for statement jewelry, and I think tassel earrings are driving this change. I don’t know what it is about them, but they feel so fresh, chic and fierce. Maybe it’s the spring/summer vibes they give off – I am desperate for warmer weather, after all. Either way, I love that you can rock a killer pair of tassel earrings with a basic tee and jeans and instantly look stylish.
I’ve linked to a few of my favorite earrings below – as you can tell, I don’t discriminate between colors, shapes or sizes. I appreciate them all.
PS – The other trend I’m currently obsessing over is patchwork denim!
FriYAY! It’s so good to be home after a week of jam packed traveling – I’ve been fighting this brutal virus for the last couple of weeks and I think it’s slowly making it’s way back again. Trying to rest up today so that I’m not suffering the entire weekend. I have to be in good shape for all of the home projects we’re working on – follow my Insta to see what we’re up to on Saturday!
This month’s trend shop is all about patchwork denim. This trend is one that I’ve grown to love over the last year or so (& is here to stay for the spring). As someone who wears denim almost daily, this trend is an easy way to add a little flavor to the everyday wardrobe. Shop my current favorites of the moment below (links are at the bottom).
I haven’t done a trend shop since I featured velvet booties – it’s been long overdue! Statement sleeves aren’t necessarily a “new” trend per se, as they really blew up earlier in 2016. I’m usually one to jump on trends quickly, but this one was a bit outside of my comfort zone. I’m finally at the point where I’m ready to embrace this trend. Bring on the bell sleeves!
Statement sleeves look best when paired with a simple outfit (you can potentially do eccentric accessories depending on the material/cut/print). Moral of the story, let the statement piece be the focal point of the outfit. Below are a few statement sleeve pieces I’m digging right now – click on the links below to shop!
Velvet is having a MAJOR moment right now. We saw it everywhere during fashion month, from dresses, skirts, blazers to my ultimate favorite…booties.
I will be the first to admit that I wasn’t too hot on this trend initially, particularly the velvet bootie. I struggled with how I’d wear them – what do you wear them with, when are they appropriate to wear? After doing some thorough research on Pinterest & other fashion blogs, the answer is you can wear them with anything, anywhere. I’m officially sold on this trend, and pulled the trigger on these bad boys last week. Unfortunately, they’re now sold out, so I’ve pulled together a list of other velvet boots I love. I’ve curated my favorites below – click on the black boxes to shop!
One thing I was doing on vaca last week, outside of beachin’ & stuffing my face, was checking my fav fashion blogs and Insta handles to get updates on New York Fashion Week. The shows are great, sure, but I enjoy perusing the street style looks just as much (if not more). Amidst the expected trends (think Gucci overload, sneakers galore, off-shoulder/cold-shoulder, distressed & cropped denim), there were a few less obvious trends that surfaced. These may not all be “new” per se, but I expect for these trends to shift from fashionista to mainstream within the next season. Get on them while you can!
It’s been a crazy couple of weeks of travel from both a personal and business perspective, but I’m finally back to the grind. It’s strange leaving Chicago in the summer and coming back to [almost] fall. However, as much as I hate to admit it, I’m ready for pumpkin spice, ankle boots and chunky sweaters. Bring it!
The trend I’m most excited to wear this fall is the bomber jacket. I’ve always been a bomber jacket kind of girl, but I’m loving the fact that it’s now acceptable to wear them with basically ANYTHING. I seriously can’t come up with one thing you can’t wear a bomber with. Not only does it serve a purpose of keeping you nice and cozy in the fall weather, but a bomber can also be a statement piece. Talk about functional fashion! Okay, I’m clearly psyched about this…you get it. Here are a few bombers I’m drooling over lately, click on the images below to shop.
I’m typically not the metallic type, but when it comes to shoes, I absolutely take the plunge. I’m especially digging metallic sandals as of late. I never have to think about whether or not they match with the rest of my outfit, because duh…metallics go with everything (I’m sold on anything that buys me a few more minutes of sleep in the morning). They can take a simple outfit and make it a tad more interesting (really letting your style “shine”, if you know what I’m sayin’). Also, they’re great to have handy anytime you need to go from day to night. Here are a few pairs I’ve been keeping an eye on…
What’s next on my spring shopping list? Off-shoulder tops & blouses. I purchased a few basic ones last summer that are great go-tos for a casual outfit, and I wore them to pieces. This year, I’m looking to expand on this trend, and add a few more statement off-shoulder tops to my closet. They’re so easy to wear, can function as a day or night piece, AND add a level of sexy (effortlessly). You look super stylish & get to show some skin without trying too hard. Did I sell you on this trend yet? Well, great news, I’ve pulled together a few of my favorite off-shoulder tops & blouses right now, just for you.
Ahhhh…the white sneaker. Where have you been? I used to rock white sneaks back in high school (are all of the early 2000 trends coming back or what?). I will say that this time around, simple and well structured sneakers are where it’s at – aka don’t bring out your Air Force Ones (although, they will always hold a special place in my heart, and I maybe would give them another chance if the time was right). The white sneaker has been a thing for some time now, but I just recently pulled the trigger on a pair. I’m just so anti-uncomfy shoes lately. If I can get away with wearing sneakers and still look stylish I am IN. I shopped around a bit before I found a pair I was in love with, and one thing I noticed is that there is quite a range when it comes to price. I’m talking a $400+ range. That said, I thought I’d break down this trend shop in two buckets: save & splurge.
Spring is ALMOST here people…what are you shopping for? A few weeks back, I put together a list of spring trends I’m excited about. One of these trends was destroyed denim. It took me time to come around to the idea of destroyed denim, as it’s one of the first times I can say “I’ve worn this before”. Yes, for the first time in my life, I’ve seen a fashion trend come and go. Sigh…now I know how my parents feel. Once I was able to break away from the awful memories of Abercrombie & Fitch, ultra-low, ripped jeans, I realized there are ways I can wear this look without time warping back to high school. The key is finding the right cut, and the right fit. Here are a few pairs I’m eyeing lately.
