A capsule wardrobe…what is that exactly?! I remember having to look it up 6 months back when I saw it referenced somewhere. For those of you who don’t know (don’t worry, you’re not alone here), a capsule wardrobe consists of a few select pieces that are timeless & versatile. To me, that means stocking up on quality pieces I can’t live without – it’s all about quality vs. quantity, ladies! I know that’s easier said than done. Although I strive to be more selective with what I purchase, it’s tough because I love me a quick fix, fast-fashion shopping spree. Sure, I prefer high quality pieces, but sometimes (let’s be real, MOST of the time) the price is beyond my budget range. My secret? Shopping second hand. That’s why I’ve partnered with thredUP (a fabulous online consignment shop) to share with you some of my capsule wardrobe must-haves…and prove that sometimes, it’s possible to find timeless pieces at a thrift store.
Camel Overcoat: I can’t even begin to tell you how many times I’ve worn this coat. In fact, I’ve posted several outfits wearing it (here, here and here). This is a perfect example of a timeless piece that can not only be worn across seasons, but year after year, regardless of the latest trends. As simple as it is, it can also stand as a statement coat.

The White Blouse: This piece comes in handy for all occasions – work, play, day. I tuck it in to pencil skirts, tie it up with high-waisted jeans, wear it underneath cardigans, layer it under knits…talk about versatile.

The Moto Jacket: This look has been in style since I can remember. You can never go wrong with a solid motorcycle jacket. Not only is it timeless, but no matter what decade you’re in, it will always look badass.

The Skinny Jean: They’ve been around for over a decade at this point, so I think it’s safe to assume skinny jeans are here to stay. Sure, other denim may be trending right now, but the skinny jean will always be a closet staple. It’s a definite capsule wardrobe item for me.

The Nude Cardigan: I particularly love nude sweaters & cardigans, but really any neutral color will do the trick. I’m really liking the newer takes on the traditional cardigan, like this sleeveless version. I try to get a little creative with cardigans and pair them with skirts & maxi dresses, but I’m not ashamed to wear them as intended…with a pair of nice jeans.
