Ahh Mykonos, where to begin. I’ve been to Mykonos quite a few times now, and it truly does not get old. Although it has the party island rep, I’ve found that Mykonos is what you make of it. If you don’t want to party, that’s okay. There are plenty of great restaurants and shopping to check out if clubs aren’t your thing. If you’re looking to party until 6AM and grab a delicious crepe for breakfast, you can do that too. With gorgeous beaches, a variety of tasty food, luxury shopping and a booming nightlife, let’s just say you won’t be bored. To set expectations, things to do tend to be on the expensive side here as it is a major tourist destination. However, it definitely deserves a visit.  Did I mention how beautiful the town is? And that I spotted Jeremy Piven out and about?

Eat

If you’re into seafood, check out Koursaro. The staff is super fun and friendly, and the food is excellent.

Head to Scorpios to grab a drink and watch the sunset (best spot for sunset), and stick around for dinner. Be sure to order their dessert – it’s mind blowing.

For traditional Greek cuisine, Maereio is the place to go. If you’re lucky, you’ll be able to sit at the one outdoor table they have!

I’m a sucker for good Loukoumades, and Sea Satin‘s are the BEST I’ve ever had. Don’t get tricked into eating dinner here, the food is mediocre and overpriced – just go for dessert.

That delicious crepe I mentioned earlier can be found at Malibu. You’ve never had a crepe like this before – made fresh right before your eyes, you can go sweet or savory…or both. They’re open from 5PM-5AM, so be sure to strategically plan your day around this crepe, unless you’re out until 5AM, in which case it’s a no brainer to stop here on your way home.

If you’re in the mood to carb it up, check out Ftelia. Right on Ftelia bay, it’s the perfect lunch spot as you can hang out at the beach and order from the restaurant. Get a pasta or pizza dish, along with their lentil & tuna salad. Top off your meal with their chocolate cal-zone (no joke, we made a side trip and took the chocolate calzone to go it’s that good).

Right along Ftelia bay, you’ll also find Alemagou. If you want a bit of a scene, check it out for dinner and enjoy a breathtaking sunset view. They bring in DJs during dinner hours, so you can get your dancing shoes going early in the night! Good food, fun atmosphere.

Drink

If you’re going to do one night out, definitely head to Astra. It can be as intense as you want it to be – if you’re looking to dance, snag a spot inside. If you want to just chill, you can enjoy the music outside while hanging with friends. PS – this is the bar I saw Jeremy Piven…so also potential for celeb spotting here 🙂

Another bar I frequent is Scarpa. Located in the Little Venice area of Mykonos, you can enjoy an elaborate drink while watching the sunset.

For a night of dancing & fun, pop in to Rock & Roll. They cater to short attention spans, changing the songs every 90 seconds to keep things interesting. From oldies to hip-hop to rock and roll, you’ll hear it all here. Be prepared to get sprayed with condensed air out of a fire extinguisher – you’ve been warned.

Shop

The shopping in Mykonos town is the best I’ve seen in the Greek islands. The options are endless! Depending on when you visit, you may catch some good sales (end of the summer is the best time as the shops are trying to clear their summer inventory). Be sure to hit up Jorjy, Soho Soho, and Athens Protasis (great for gifts!).

Explore

Outside of eating, drinking and shopping, my additional time was spent at the beach.

For a beautiful beach with a great bar/restaurant, Panormos is my go-to. If you’re looking for more of a scene (& some celeb spotting), Psarou is where it’s at – it’s not my favorite, but it definitely is entertaining and perfect for people watching. If you’re looking to chill out and enjoy the sound of the waves uninterrupted (& maybe get a massage), head to Elia beach.
