Now that I’m in my late twenties, I’ve been more cognizant of what I’m putting on my skin (better late than never, right?). Between packing on sunscreen, investing more in serums and moisturizers, I’m also doing a fair amount of research on different skin regimens and products. My most recent experiment was around the concept of “misting”. I’ve read numerous articles that reference makeup artists keeping facial mists in their kits, so I wanted to see what all the hype was about.

MistingI came across Pixi by Petra’s Glow Mist at Target (you may be familiar with the brand for their “Glow Tonic” exfoliating toner). At just $15, it was the perfect price for a test product. After my first misting sesh, I knew I’d be adding it to my daily skincare routine, and here’s why:

  • It’s hydrating: There are times when my skin looks dry, dull and dehydrated. With just a few sprays of mist, I notice my skin instantly becomes brighter, and I get that dewy look I love.
  • It’s calming: I can get anxious at times, and the cooling effect after misting my face is so soothing and helps calms my nerves a bit. Some mists (including the Glow Mist I purchased) contain essential oils like lavender and argan, which can further hydrate and/or have therapeutic effects.
  • It sets & refreshes your makeup: I’ve applied the mist before makeup to help the makeup settle and also to avoid getting that dreaded cakey look. It’s also a great pick-me-up in the late afternoon when my makeup has lost its glow.

There are a variety of facial mists out there – the Pixi by Petra’s Glow Mist is a great price and does the trick. Here are a few other mists on my radar that receive rave reviews:

Benefit – Ultra Radiance Facial Rehydrating Mist ($26) | Pevonia Botanica – Phyto Aromatic Mist ($38) | Nu Skin – NaPCA Moisture Mist ($10) | Laura Mercier – Flawless Skin Perfecting Moisture Mist ($38)
