Spring is just around the corner…I’m finally seeing a light at the end of the tunnel. It’s time to start thinking about new wardrobe additions (after I do my spring cleaning, of course). I love exploring what’s trending every season before I make purchases. I always stock up on basics, but what I get most excited about are the few new trendy pieces I buy. They’re fun to wear, and simply just something to look forward to in the morning. Every once in awhile, it’s important to add pieces to your wardrobe that will help you reinvent yourself. We’re constantly evolving & growing as people, and our style should be too. These are the trends I can’t wait to wear this spring – I’m sensing a shopping spree in the very near future…
I’m such a sucker for 80’s fashion, so I’ve been wearing chunky off-the-shoulder sweaters for ages. I have one that I’ve literally been wearing for 10 years! That said, I was pretty excited to see this trend pop in the last year or so. From tops to dresses to sweaters, I’m digging this trend all around. Bare shoulders are sexy, in a very subtle way. Current wishlist: ASOS Top / Free People Dress / American Apparel Choker Top
Whenever I’m wearing suede, my mom is the first to comment on it – usually it’s something along the lines of “I used to have something just like that 30 years ago”. Great, Mom, just great. Not helping me out here. I’m just happy this trend is back, and try not to focus on all of the amazing vintage clothing I could have inherited. Bottom line is, suede is everywhere right now and I don’t mind one bit. Current wishlist: Mango Suede Shirt / Axel Arigato Suede Sneakers / Ecote Suede Western Jacket / Acne Suede Boots
In full transparency, I was not the biggest fan of the destroyed jean trend until very recently. It brought back flashbacks of the awful early-mid 2000’s Abercrombie & Fitch look. However, the way this trend is being worn this time around is different, a bit more sophisticated and intentional. I’ve seen girls wear destroyed denim with heels, and I don’t hate it. I’m especially into vintage destroyed denim, so I’ve been on the lookout for the perfect pair. Current wishlist: Re/Done High Rise Ankle Crop / JBrand Alana Cropped / One Teaspoon Awesome Baggies
Geometric, architectural bags are where it’s at as of late. These bags make a statement and can make something as simple as a tee and jeans look stylish. Circle and half moon bags have taken the spotlight, but other shapes and sizes (like the one above) are unique and super cool. Current wishlist: M2Malletier Leather Shoulder Bag / Chiyome Grey Ash Sloan / Tessel Jetpack Backpack
