OMG! GLOSSIER PLAY HAS ARRIVED!

Now, you may be wondering, what is Glossier Play? You mean you weren’t able to decode the cryptic email & social media posts that Glossier shared a few weeks before launch?! SAME. The whole build up was a little ridiculous to be honest, but that’s a topic for another post.

Glossier Play is Glossier’s new “dialed up” makeup line. Think of the standard Glossier line as daytime makeup, and Glossier Play as the adventurous babe that comes up when the sun goes down – like in a non-sexual way, but maybe sexual? You do you ;).

If you’re new to Glossier all together, I’ve done deep dives on the standard Glossier line – from recapping my favorites to challenging their ever so popular brow product, Boy Brow.

Want to try the goodies? You can get 10% off your first Glossier purchase when you shop with me!

For what it’s worth, I use two to three Glossier products a day, so I do consider myself a big fan. Do I love EVERYTHING? Absolutely not, but that goes for every makeup brand. It’s pretty tough to nail every single product.

How do I feel about Glossier Play? Well you’re just about to find out. If you want to see the products live & applied, I did a talk through and try on of every single product here. Now, let’s get into the DETS!

glossier play review

colorslide.

When it comes to makeup products I buy the most of, I’d say eyeliner is top two on the list. That’s why I was jumping with excitement when I heard about the Colorslide. A whole line of COLORED eyeliners?! SIGN ME UP.

First off, the Colorslide palette is ON POINT. It’s a perfect balance of pastels, metallics and deep bold colors that cater to all seasons & occasions. I went with the rich mustard yellow, Nectar, given I have nothing like it currently in my makeup drawer.

As mentioned, I’m digging the color palette and the formula is nice & smooth, so it glides on the eye nicely. However, is it the best colored eyeliner I’ve ever tried? Mmmm, no.  It takes a few gos to get the color to really pop. You have to keep layering the eyeliner on, which is tedious and annoying.

All in all, I like the colors & the formula, but given it’s not as pigmented as I would like, I don’t think I’ll be purchasing again.

niteshine.

The name of this product is TOO GOOD. I’m a huge fan of the Glossier’s Haloscope highlighter, so naturally I had high hopes for Niteshine.

This product has a stick applicator, similar to a lip gloss. The thought behind it is that is allows for more targeted highlighting, vs. the stick that hits large areas like cheeks & the brow bones. The product blends REALLY well on the face, just takes a few taps and you’re set. I picked it up in the platinum rose shade for more of an everyday highlighter.

I love how well the product blends, but find the application of it less convenient than the Haloscope. I’m not one who does crazy contouring and highlights small areas of my face – I’m a simple gal who just hits the main areas (brow bone, cheek bone, nose).

Thought I think the Niteshine is a nice formula, the application is too complicated for me (a girl who literally just swipes on highlighter without having to blend). It also doesn’t POP as much as other liquid highlighters I’ve used. I likely won’t purchase again.

vinylic lip. Moving on to one of my FAVORITE products of the Glossier Play line!!! Hopefully, you didn’t think I’d be bashing all of the products :).

The vinylic lip is a high shine lipstick/gloss situation that is highly addicting. To apply, you tap the bottom and click a couple of times, and the product magically appears at the tip. It goes on nice & velvety, and is incredibly easy to apply.

I purchased the product in Casino, which is a bright orange color, and I am HOOKED. The product feels great on the lips, gives a high gloss shine without feeling sticky, and actually lasts pretty long for a gloss.

I’m a HUGE fan of this product – from the color selection, the moisturizing / non-sticky feel, to the ease of application. It’s an overall amazing high shine liquid lip option, and I can’t wait to purchase in more colors!

blade.

On to the pencil sharpener…a product that was a pleasant surprise.

I haven’t put much thought into pencil sharpeners since I legit had to use them for like, writing. The ones I’ve used for my eyeliners have seemed to do the trick, with annoyances like not being able to hold more than one sharpen and gunk getting stuck inside.

Well, let me tell you, this sharpener solves for both those issues. The container is large enough to hold at least 3-4 sharpens (I KNOW! WHERE HAS THIS THING BEEN ALL MY LIFE?!), AND it comes with this rubber cleaning stick to get all the build up out.

I didn’t know what I was missing until I tried the Blade. At $4, this product is worth every penny and I don’t think I’ll ever be going back to the smaller sharpeners I’ve used to date. HIGHLY recommend investing in this bad boy.

glitter gelée + detailer duo.I know exactly what you’re thinking. When the F am I going to use this product?!! I’m not one that flaunts glitter on a daily basis (unless it’s on my nails), but hear me out.

The Glitter Gelée is a glitter like paste, and if you get the duo set, it comes with the Detailer applicator. I purchased the product in the Phantasm, which comprises of opalecent / holographic glitter specs. Very disco-esque.

If you use the Detailer to apply, you’re able to get the product on in small areas (like the inner eyes) for a little added shine. I LOVE this product. It makes glitter approachable and wearable for normal life. I wouldn’t hesitate a second to add some Glitter Gelée to my eyes on a night out, in fact, I’ve already done it several times.

When worn in small doses, the glitter gelèe is a beautiful touch of “play” to wear on a night out or dressy occasion (not to mention every summer music festival, but you already knew that). This product makes glitter approachable and easier to apply, and I can’t wait to glitter out this summer!
