I am fully immersed in the 90’s obsession, and it’s driving all my purchasing decisions at the moment. I can’t get me enough tank tops, maxi skirts, strappy sandals…hell, I’m even on the hunt for a good Hawaiian shirt. WHAT HAS GOTTEN INTO ME?!

Diving into the psychology of this love affair is a topic for another post – there is a lot of childhood nostalgia to unpack. Yes, I’m a 90’s kid and feel old AF now that the sh*t my mom rocked in ’95 is now hanging in my closet. I’ve officially caught myself (while perusing through old family pics) being like, “MOM! WHY DIDN’T YOU SAVE THAT DRESS?!!”. Ya. It’s happening.

Anyway, this 90’s thing that’s taken over my life majorly influenced my latest thrift haul where I styled up seven VERY 90’s looks with thrifted pieces (well, mostly thrifted but all vintage…I explain in more detail in the video).

Today, I’m doing a deeper dive on two of the looks featured in my video…one of them just so happens to be one of my all time favorite vintage finds ever.

This look is entirely inspired by Priscavera’s SS19 runway. I wanted to take a lame piece and dress it down in the most effortless way possible – Priscavera totally nailed this vibe. I knew that it would be tough to find a lame piece in the thrift store (plus, one of my thrifting rules is that you can’t shop with a piece in mind!), so I resorted to DePop to find my treasure.

Found this metallic wrap top and snagged it IMMEDIATELY. It’s the perfect day to night piece – can be worn with mom jeans and a pair of flossy sandals for daytime, and stirrups or a maxi skirt for night (or a really extra day look, it is an option always). I went for a bougie day look, and paired the top with a vintage black maxi skirt (supes 90’s), some clear sandals AND to top it off, a pair of neon earrings (it played up the futuristic vibe of the shoes).

This look is more muted than my norm, but I’m leaning towards this kind of thing for everyday wear lately. I’d say this look is inspired by Tibi’s SS19 collection – I wanted to do a pastel paired with a neutral. By the way, this pair of white denim wide leg crops was a KILLER find from Madewell – they couldn’t fit / make my a** look any better, really.

I admittedly had a recent panic attack of not having enough tops in my closet, which consequently resulted in me purchasing five silk button down blouses (so creative LOL). This vintage Anne Klein piece just so happened to be one of them, BUT it has a twist to it! The ruffled trim makes it stand apart from the rest. The color is a muted lavender, which also jives with a lot of the pastels in my closet at the moment. To avoid a preppier look (which is so NOT my style), I decided to leave a few buttons on the bottom undone. It gives the look a more effortless, edgy vibe. I added a trendy tie dye slip on sandal to finish off the look.
