I made an exciting and potentially dangerous decision this week. I purchased an annual pass to Divvy Bikes, the bike sharing system in Chicago. I’ve always looked at bikers in envy (solely in the summer, of course, as biking during Chicago winter is borderline insane) wishing I had the guts to ride a bike amidst rush hour traffic. Well, it’s finally happening…and given I haven’t been a regular biker in probably 13 years, it’s a bit scary.
That being said, I’m taking all the of the precautionary measures before my first ride. In addition to mapping every possible bike-friendly route in the city (Chicago city bike map can be found HERE), I’ve accepted that I have to buy a helmet. The last helmet I wore looked something like this:
You can imagine I wasn’t exactly thrilled with the helmet concept. The good news is there’s been a lot of progress on the helmet front and it’s possible to actually look CUTE wearing a helmet. Who would’ve thought?! Here are some adorable ones I’ve come across – which one is your favorite?
