The holiday weekend is upon us! I’ve so been looking forward to it. I never thought I’d say this, but I’ve been traveling too much (yes – it can get to a point where it’s too much – hard to believe, right?). With all the travel, house hunting, weddings, bridal showers, etc. June just flew by. I have my suitcase out from a week ago, parking tickets I haven’t paid, old food in my fridge, gray hairs growing like weeds…my life is in shambles!

Based on the insanity outlined above, I very much need a long weekend to get my life together and relax. I need to slowwww down. Do nothing for an afternoon. I forget what that’s like sometimes. Here are a few things I’m hoping to achieve this long, glorious weekend (hoping I can squeeze in that afternoon of nothingness with this schedule – I can’t help but be productive!).

Holiday Weekend Plans

I really enjoy going to the movies, and it’s not something I get to partake in regularly. There’s no better way to escape from reality than seeing a film. It’s 2 hours you don’t think about life and fully immerse yourself in something. When else do we ever get to do this?! I’ve been itching to see Finding Dory…AND they made The BFG a movie?! Roald Dahl was one of my favorite authors growing up…I’m fairly certain I’ve read every. single. one. of his books. Clearly, I’m craving an animated film this weekend. Am I too old for those?Holiday Weekend Plans

I’ve been seriously neglecting my beauty routine the last few weeks, and it’s time to get back in the swing of things. I desperately need to get my hair colored (as mentioned, my grays are out of control – sigh), my nails did, my eyebrows shaped…and maybe I’ll squeeze in a massage if I have the time. Something as small as getting a manicure can instantly make me feel like a million bucks. It’s the little things!

Holiday Weekend Plans

I’m headed over to a friend’s place for the 4th, and I was tasked with bringing dessert. I haven’t baked in awhile (the last time I did, I made this), so I’m excited to peruse recipes on Pinterest and wipe the dust off my baking gadgets. I find comfort in baking. Perhaps it’s because there are no wild cards. Instructions are so clear, you don’t have to think about anything outside of getting those measurements right. It’s therapeutic.

Holiday Weekend Plans

I’m moving out of my apartment in a couple of months, and I’m kind of freaking out about it. Moving is not one of my favorite activities, and as I’ve stayed put for 3 years, I’ve got a lot of belongings to sort through. I figure if I slowly start tackling room by room, it will be more manageable. I’ve started with my closet, and am hoping to list a few items on eBay to get a head start on my exit! I’m super excited to share with you guys where I’m headed to post-move – more to come in a couple of weeks!

What do you have planned this weekend? If you have recommendations on 4th of July themed desserts, please send them my way 🙂
