Living in a big city, there are nail salons at every corner. I’ll let you in on a little secret my friends…only about 15% of these nail salons are actually legit. Mayyybee that’s an exaggeration, but you get my point. I’ve learned the hard way, stopping at a random place for a quick mani before dinner and being completely disappointed when I notice my chipped nail as I enjoy my cocktail later that evening. We’ve all been there, and it’s not ideal. First world problem, I know, but a problem nonetheless. After some trial and error, I’ve found a few gems in various neighborhoods of Chicago, and they’re also affordable. Here’s a list of my favorite nail salons in Chicago:
Allure Nail Spa | West Loop
This is the kind of place you hit up last minute with no appointment. There may be a wait, but it’s usually not long and they’re always welcoming. It can get pretty busy, and it’s not a place for relaxation (very loud and a lot going on). However, if you’re there to get the nails did and get out, they’ll get the job done. If you plan on visiting their website, turn off your volume or prepare to be surprised with a very creepy version of Beethoven’s Fur Elise.
Izabella’s | Lincoln Park
This place is a hidden gem, down the stairs of the tiny plaza at the corner of Fullerton and Clark. It’s a nice, cozy spot, and they do an excellent job. It is slightly more expensive than other salons in the neighborhood, but for the quality of work they do it’s worth the few extra bucks. Make an appointment if you can, it can get really busy.
Blueberry Moon | Lincoln Park
If you’re looking for an all out spa-like experience, this is where it’s at. Blueberry Moon is actually a full-service salon that also provides nail services. This is where you go if you want to be pampered while sipping on their delicious Aveda tea, all for a reasonable price. Appointments are highly recommended!
Juko Nail & Skin Rescue | Wicker Park
I am a huge fan of Juko, but it’s virtually impossible to get an appointment! The times I’ve made it in there, I’ve been very pleased with the results. The employees will go above and beyond to make sure you have a great experience. This is the kind of place where you’ll get served a drink of choice, wine obviously being the best option. Again, very tough to get an appointment here, so call a couple of days in advance.
Revive Nails | Noble Square
With this salon being just a few blocks away from my house, it’s one I visit the most regularly. What I love most about this place is that I can show up with a last minute nail emergency and get in. The employees are incredibly friendly, and they’ll do everything they can to make sure you’re having a good experience. This includes serving you tea, coffee, wine, the works. Because of where it’s located, the salon doesn’t get as busy as Juko, but they really do an amazing job. My last mani here lasted a week! Definitely doesn’t get as much buzz as it should, and it’s extremely affordable with mani/pedi costing $40.
