After months of dealing with my constantly dying iPhone 6 (not to mention the constant “low on storage” warning), I finally pulled the trigger and bought the iPhone 7 Plus – yup, I even upgraded the size of my screen! I can’t tell you how many times my iPhone 6 battery gave out on me during critical moments – i.e. while my Uber was on the way to pick me up #firstworldproblems. With all that said, you can imagine how excited I was to finally get a bigger screen, better battery life & an incredible camera!
One thing I have yet to purchase is a phone case. I HATE that phone cases take away from the beauty of the iPhone – I mean, the hardware is just too pretty to hide – but they are so necessary. I’ve cracked my old phone’s screen one too many times, and now that I have a new shiny device, I feel like I should attempt to take better care of it. Here are some stylish cases I’ve been eying lately – shop via the links below (I clearly have a thing for marble – ha)!
I haven’t had time to do much shopping for myself as of late, but I have a running wish list of items that I want/NEED in my closet right now. My fall shopping has been put on hold due to all the items we have to buy for the house. Let me tell you – it’s not easy. It also doesn’t help that fashion month just wrapped up, major #envy going on right now. One of my favorite things to do is stalk street style pics and get the low down on what everyone is wearing. Shop some of my favorite fashion month street style looks below!
A couple of weeks ago, my obsession with flea markets reached an all time high. After years of failing to go, I FINALLY made it to Vintage Garage Chicago, and it was glorious. For all of you flea market lovers, please take a seat as I explain.
Vintage Garage is essentially a massive garage takeover. On a normal day, this is your typical city parking garage. On the 3rd Sunday of every month from April-October, it turns into a magical place. You’ll find 75 vendors swarming the garage, and it’s filled to the brim with everything vintage. Furniture, clothing, jewelry, decor, art and more. Let’s just say this is my flea market dream come true.
Last week was spent prepping for my vacation, which meant packing (LOTS of packing going on lately), wrapping up things at work, and running some last minute errands before the trip. I have barely worked out the last 2 weeks, which is so unlike me, and just haven’t felt like myself.
When I heard Topshop was hosting an in-store event (with the lovely Fleur De Force) that included free manis, braids, makeup touch-ups, and cocktails…I knew that I NEEDED to go. How could I turn down an opportunity to get pampered after an exhausting week…or ever, really? This was my chance to unwind before a long day of travel.
Life has been so crazy lately, I haven’t even had the chance to think about my upcoming vacation! I’m now scrambling, realizing there are last minute things I need for my trip…one of them being a proper beach bag.
I don’t know why, but purchasing a nice beach bag is never high on my priority list. I put a lot of focus on the swimsuits, sunglasses, towels…and every summer I realize the importance of a stylish beach bag. This summer (or at least this “summer trip” as summer is almost over – it’s painful to think about!) I’m making changes. I NEED to find the perfect beach bag, and I’m leaning towards getting a straw one…mainly because they’re adorable and I don’t have to worry about sand destroying it. Though my options are limited given it’s end of summer, I’ve still managed to find a few bags that I love. Click on the images below to shop!
Isn’t it strange that sunglasses are a one-size-fits-all? Most everything we purchase comes in sizes, yet sunglasses are an exception to this rule. We all have unique head shapes…there’s no standard by any means. Something’s not adding up here.
Well, I’ve got news for you. I’ve discovered that there ARE sunglasses out there that come in sizes, measured perfectly for your pretty (or handsome) face. Introducing Moscot – you can thank me later. Now, this isn’t a new brand by any means. They’ve been around for over a hundred years, and it’s apparent when you take a look at their classic designs. Their frames are timeless, and highly customizable. You have the ability to select your frame size, shape, color and lens. Given how much we spend on sunglasses, you’d think this would be the standard.Continue reading…
Nordstrom will always have a special place in my heart as I worked there for 5 years throughout high school & college. It essentially was the reason I didn’t have to work when away at school – best seasonal job EVER! I made special friends from my time there, and also learned more than expected in the hustle & grind of the retail world. I was a hardwired Nordstrom fanatic, as you can imagine, so every summer when the Anniversary Sale came along I was pumped. It’s THE biggest sale of the year.
I’d creep into the stock rooms of all the departments as they were getting their Anniversary merch to get a sneak peek. It was always fun to get the inside scoop on what product they’d be featuring that summer. Over the years, their sale strategy has evolved, and now we’re all able to get a sneak peek at the awesome merch they’ll be featuring before it becomes available for purchase…even without a Nordstrom card.
Here’s how it works – if you’re a Nordstrom card holder, you get early access to shop the sale now. For the rest of you, everything will become officially available on July 22nd, but you can still see what will be featured on the sale now!
Here’s what’s currently on my #NSale wishlist – click on the images below to shop.
I stopped at Lou & Grey last week as they were featuring pop-up shop, Coast by Coast. The pop up shop was mainly comprised of beachwear & swimsuits. However, they weren’t your typical swimsuits. They were unique, high quality, and of course, came with a hefty price tag. The most memorable brand they featured was Basta Surf. I have issues finding suits that fit me properly, mainly because I have a large bust and need all of the support I can get. I found these suits surprisingly supportive, flattering, and incredibly versatile as all of them are reversible! In my mind, you’re sort of getting two suits in one…soooo that justifies the price…right?
I’m usually minimalist when it comes to swimsuits – I stick with solids and simple cuts. I appreciate that these suits fall into my style category, but add an element of surprise with each piece. Whether it’s the color combination, a touch of neon in an otherwise neutral suit, unique strap designs – they really stand out in the crowd. Here are some suits I’m crushin’ on currently.
A capsule wardrobe…what is that exactly?! I remember having to look it up 6 months back when I saw it referenced somewhere. For those of you who don’t know (don’t worry, you’re not alone here), a capsule wardrobe consists of a few select pieces that are timeless & versatile. To me, that means stocking up on quality pieces I can’t live without – it’s all about quality vs. quantity, ladies! I know that’s easier said than done. Although I strive to be more selective with what I purchase, it’s tough because I love me a quick fix, fast-fashion shopping spree. Sure, I prefer high quality pieces, but sometimes (let’s be real, MOST of the time) the price is beyond my budget range. My secret? Shopping second hand. That’s why I’ve partnered with thredUP (a fabulous online consignment shop) to share with you some of my capsule wardrobe must-haves…and prove that sometimes, it’s possible to find timeless pieces at a thrift store.
Spring is just around the corner…I’m finally seeing a light at the end of the tunnel. It’s time to start thinking about new wardrobe additions (after I do my spring cleaning, of course). I love exploring what’s trending every season before I make purchases. I always stock up on basics, but what I get most excited about are the few new trendy pieces I buy. They’re fun to wear, and simply just something to look forward to in the morning. Every once in awhile, it’s important to add pieces to your wardrobe that will help you reinvent yourself. We’re constantly evolving & growing as people, and our style should be too. These are the trends I can’t wait to wear this spring – I’m sensing a shopping spree in the very near future…
