The June Ten

I love me some Paula’s Choice, and I think they noticed because I’m on the list to get all the new goods directly from them! They were kind enough to pass along the new Power Berry Serum they launched. It reminds me a bit of the Eminence Hyaluronic Serum I use, with a less sticky consistency. After two weeks of using this serum every morning, I noticed that my skin was more hydrated and brighter. 

These hoops have become my summer staple. I own the standard version of these as well (you’ve probably seen me where them plenty like here and here), but felt the urge to pick up the heart shaped version too. I’ve basically reverted back to my 8 year old self and have rekindled my obsession with star and heart jewelry. And jelly sandals. And glitter.

Yes, I’m still on the face gloss / eye gloss kick, and although my love affair with Milk’s Face Gloss – which btw, I just discovered is either discontinued or MIA? – still stands strong, I’ve been experimenting with new stuff too. One of which includes the FLESH POT (doesn’t that sound…dirty?!) by Flesh Beauty. I use this only on the eyes, to add a touch of glitter to the glossy look – as previously mentioned, I’m having a major glitter obsession rn. 

This wasn’t a show I would have given a chance if it weren’t for a night I spent at Mom’s – she insisted I watch it. I think a mini argument may have even taken place, in which she won. The end result? Me binge watching The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel for three consecutive weekends. It’s refreshing to see a bad ass female character in a lead role, especially one that takes place in the 1950’s. Aside from the fashion & the humor (her parents = my parents), it’s simply inspiring to watch a divorced mother of two take on her dream to be a comic in a time when it was taboo for women to be working, period.

I never thought I’d succumb to the trend of the tourist sandal, but I got suckered in and there’s no turning back. I picked up these platform sandals from Camper earlier this summer, and I’ve been wearing them on repeat this summer. There really is nothing you can’t wear them with.

I love a good pop of color when it comes to makeup. Before Color Slide entered my life, the only way I knew how to add color was with a fun shadow (which I don’t do often) or a bold lip (which can be super annoying to maintain throughout the day). Color Slide was the solution I never thought existed – a colorful liner that gives the most subtle pop of color in a way you never thought of before. It’s been my go-to makeup item of the summer!

Ahhh a good summer fragrance…we all need one, but not all of us are lucky enough to find our match. I was losing hope until I ran into a friend who smelled of Le Labo Another 13. I ordered it immediately when I got home, and I’ve been wearing it daily ever since. It’s kind of like an elevated, more current CK One…aka the best fragrance that ever graced this planet. It’s a must try.

If you’ve been a reader for some time now, you know I’m a sucker for some serious gold necklace layering. This necklace here gave me a completely new perspective on accessorizing. I’m warming up to the fact that less can actually be MORE when it comes to jewelry…a concept I never entertained in my bougie, over-accessorized past. Who would’ve thought that a thrift store find would have this kind of impact?!

Now that it’s officially summer around these parts, it’s peak podcast season for me! Since we see approximately 14 days of summer in Chicago, I find myself walking obscene distances just to soak in every ounce of sunshine I can get. I need entertainment on these long walks…which is where the podcasts come in. I recently discovered Fat Mascara, a podcast run by two beauty editors that’s about – shocker – BEAUTY. From favorite mascaras, to the latest facials to microneedling…you get the latest scoop on everything current in beauty from the experts. If you’re a beauty junkie like I am, it never gets old.

Yet another hard to find summer essential…LIP GLOSS. Well, let me clarify…easy to find but tough to find one that isn’t too sticky but still glossy, doesn’t have too much tint but enough to show on the lip, and doesn’t require dipping fingers in a tub of goo-ey grossness that will somehow end up on your white tee shirt.
