I’ve noticed that turmeric has grown in popularity lately, which makes sense given it’s amazing health benefits. Here are a few:
- Eases heartburn or an upset stomach
- Detoxifies your liver
- May prevent or slow the progression of Alzheimer’s disease
- Natural anti-inflammatory
- May aid in fat metabolism
and the list goes on! My mom always cooked with turmeric, so growing up I ate it but never appreciated it as much as I do now. I’ve come across some unconventional recipes on Pinterest that use this spice in new and exciting ways, and this one from Pop Sugar stood out to me. I love almond milk, turmeric, and ginger so naturally I wanted to give this turmeric milk recipe a try. I was not disappointed! It’s a great healthy snack or dessert. If you add some protein powder, you can even enjoy it as a post-workout shake.
INGREDIENTS
1 cup unsweetened almond milk
1/2 teaspoon ground turmeric
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
1/4 teaspoon ground cardamom
1 teaspoon honey (or sweetener of your choice)
You’ll need a mason jar or shaker (one of those bottles used for protein shakes will do). Combine all of the ingredients into the mason jar, and shake it for 2 minutes. Run it through a mesh strainer, and you’re good to go! Deliciousness.
